The Institut für Diabetes-Technologie Forschungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH an der Universität Ulm is a research Institute, specialized in clinical research in the area of Diabetes mellitus. The Institute was founded in 1986 by Prof. Dr. med. Dres. h.c. Ernst Friedrich Pfeiffer. Our status "Institute at the University Ulm" enables us a close cooperation with all faculties of the University of Ulm.

We perform clinical studies in accordance with Medical Device Act and Drug Act and in addition we are involved in studies on continuous glucose measurement, development of an artificial pancreas, diabetes and nutrition. Our subcutaneous tissue glucose monitoring system (formerly known as "Ulmer Zuckeruhr nach Prof. Pfeiffer") is well-known worldwide.
